J-kun and I are proud!
Hey guys!
やっほー、みんな！
The other day, J-kun and I were talking about our kids classes.
この前、J君と私はキッズクラスの話をしました。
We think our kids are doing really well, and we’re not ashamed to say so!
こども達は本当によくやってます！自分でも言っても恥ずかしくないくらい！
This month, we did ‘Let’s ... !’.
今月、「OOをしましょう！」を学びました。
All our kids can say ‘Let’s find a (sea animal)!’ and when they find it, they can say ‘Here!’.
キッズクラスの全員が「（海の動物）を見つけましょう！」。それで、見つけてから、「ここだよ！」と言えます。
Parents, the next time you visit an aquarium with your kids, try it for yourself.
パパ＆ママへ、次回お子さまと一緒に水族館の入った時には試してみてくださいね！
We started with some special colouring pages.
There are some hard-to-find sea creatures in this picture.
Once J-kun or I say ‘Let’s find a shark!’, the kids had to find the shark and say ‘Here!’.
Then they could colour it. We often like to chat to the kids in English while they colour.
最初は特別な塗り絵で始まりました。
その塗り絵は少し見つけにくい海の動物がいました。
J君や私が「サメを見つけよう！」と言うと、サメを見つけて、「ここだよ！」と言わなければなりません。
それから色を塗ることができます。私たちは塗り絵中にこども達とお話するのが大好きです♡
The next week, we pretended to be carnival employees.
Can your eyes follow which cup the sea creature is under?
If you know, just point at the cup and say ‘Here!’.
翌週のレッスンでは、屋台の姉さんになりました！
海の動物をコップに入れて・・・クルクルするよ、ちゃんと目で付いて来れるかなー？
どれか分かったら、コップを指差して、「ここだよ！」って言います。
Lastly, we practiced ‘What shall we do?’. The answer begins with ‘Let’s... !’.
最後のレッスンは、「何をしましょうかー？」の練習をしました。答えは、「レッツ...」から始まりますよ！
If your child asks you, ‘What shall we do?’, please answer with ‘Let’s (go to the beach)!’, etc.
子供さんに「何をしましょうかー？」と聞かれたら、「レッツ・ゴウ・トゥ・ザ・ビーチッ！」（海に行きましょう！）です。
かっこの中を変えて是非試してみてください♪

えいごであそぼ＠どんぐり保育園藤枝
Today Hop Step jump visited Donguri kindergarten in Fujieda.
今日は藤枝のどんぐり保育園を訪ねました。
When I walk into the class, they are always so excited to see me.
いつも教室に入るとこども達が僕をみつけて大騒ぎ！
They scream “hello!” , and always have big smiles.
「ハロー！」と叫び、いつもとびっきりの笑顔です。
They classes are always lots of fun because they have so much energy.
こども達はエネルギーに満ち溢れているのでいつもレッスンはすごく楽しいです。
This month they are having a festival.
今月はお祭りがあります。
Today we played some games using words which they might want to use at a festival.
今日はお祭りでよく使う単語をつかってゲームをしました。
“J-kun! What do you want?”
“I want an ice cream!”
then they run off and find an ice cream.
こども達が「Jくん！何がほしい？」と聞き
僕が「アイスクリーム！」と答えると
走ってアイスクリームのカードを取ってきます。
Some of them returned and said, “here you are!” with big smiles!
「これどーぞ！」と笑顔で渡してくれます。

"Rain, rain, go away..."
Hello everyone!
こんにちは、皆さん！
J-kun has been singing 'Rain Rain Go Away' in his baby class. Do you know it?
ベイビークラスでは、J君が「Rain, Rain, Go Away」を歌っています。みんな知ってるかなー？
Rain, rain, go away, come again another day.
Little J-kun wants to play.
Rain, rain, go away.
雨、雨、あっち行って。また今度おいで。
ちっちゃいJ君が遊びたいから。
雨、雨、あっち行って。
I was not happy...
嬉しくなかったわ...
But... because of J-kun’s song... the rain went away! grin emoticon
でも... J君の歌のおかげで、雨もう降ってない！
Our British summers are very different. Usually our weather is mostly cloudy... but summers are great!
イギリスの夏はちがーう。イギリスの天気はほとんど曇りだけど、でも夏はさいこーーーーー！
In the summer, we like to have lots of outside music festivals. They are so much fun!!
夏は野外ミュージックフェスティバルが多いんですよ。めっちゃ楽しいいい！！
We also like to go to our local park and spend some time in the sunshine. We like to read magazines, gossip, play some sports. It's so relaxing.
地元の公園に行って、太陽の下でごろごろ過ごすのが好き。雑誌を読んだり、うわさ話をしたり、色々なスポーツをしたり... つまりのんびりリラックスするの♡
It's not too hot, the days are long... it's the perfect weather for a barbecue! It was my favourite season.
そんなに暑くないし、日が長いし、バーベキューにちょうどいい天気。夏が私の一番好きな季節でした♡
'Was?'
「でした」って？
I really don't like these crazy hot Japanese summerssssss. How are you all coping?? J-kun and I are always soaked with sweat!
日本の暑すぎる夏は嫌だよーーーー。みんな、どうやって我慢できるの？？
私とJ君の汗がすぐやばくなるんだよーーー。ビショビショッ！
But apart from summer, I love Japanese seasons! Why? British Autumns are rainy... British winters are rainy... British springs are rainy... We will all get webbed feet soon!!
でも夏以外の日本の季節は大好き♡！なぜかというと、イギリスの秋は雨。冬も雨。。春も雨。。。みんなの足がアヒルの足になっちゃうよ！！

Phonics is fun!
At Hop Step Jump we try to help students with their reading.
ホップステップジャンプでは読む練習をします。
Being able to read isn't something that just happens overnight.
読むことができるということは、一晩で起こることではありません。
There is a lot to learn. It needs a lot of practice!
学ぶことがたくさん！そしてたくさんの練習が必要です！
I think it must be difficult for the students.
こども達にとってはとても難しいことだと思います。
After a long hard day at school, coming to English class and studying how to read!
学校で長いハードな1日の後に、英語教室に来て読み方を学ぶ。。。
Sounds tough right? Wrong!!
大変だよね？でしょ？
Yes, it is difficult, but at Hop Step Jump we learn how to read by playing games! So it's fun for the students.
そう、それは難しい。でもゲームをしながら読む練習をするから、すごく楽しいよ！
They want to play games = They want to learn!

It's getting warmer and warmer and warmer.
Yesterday was so hot, I'm surprised the students had any energy!
昨日はとっても暑かったね。でもこども達がとても元気でびっくりしたよ。
As always they arrived, excited about English class!
いつものようにこども達は教室に来ると元気いっぱい！
Before the class the students wrote a few sentences in their new books.
レッスン前の予習時間には書く練習をしたよ。
They are doing really well and their writing is getting better and better.
みんなすごく頑張ってる！だから！ちょっとずつできることが増えてきたよ。
I tried to give some of the advice about the spacing between each word.
昨日はみんなに単語と単語の間に、指一本分のスペースを開けるようにアドバイスしたよ。
We played some different phonics games including bingo (with eye spy...), and “blocks”, a game which my dad reminded me of when he came to visit in April.
それからフォニックスゲームを２種類やったよ。アイスパイとブロックス！
ブロックスは今年の４月に僕のお父さんが日本に来てくれた時に思い出させてくれたゲーム。
It's easy to play, ask the students.
すごく簡単だからこども達に聞いてみてね。
As always we finished the class by playing card games.
We talked about a lot of different things yesterday, and we laughed a lot.
昨日もBBカードをやりながらいろんな話をして笑ったね。

“Let's find things in the sea!”

Summer is coming!
ついに夏がきたね！
The students have started swimming at Yaizu kindergarten.
焼津幼稚園ではプールが始まりました。
I always ask them, “do you like swimming?” and they all scream “YES!!!”
僕が生徒のみんなに「泳ぐの好き？」ときくと、みんなはいつも大きな声で、「YES!!! (は～い!!!) 」と返事をしてくれます。
(We learned that phrase last year).
(僕たちは昨年、このフレーズを一緒に勉強したね^^)
When I asked them “do you like swimming in the sea?”
僕が生徒のみんなに、「海で泳ぐの好き？」と英語できいたとき、
The students looked confused.
生徒のみんなは少し困ったような顔をしてました。
“What's the sea?”
「Seaって、なぁに～？」
Whenever we start a new topic, there are always some confused faces.
僕たちが新しいことを始めるとき、生徒のみんなはいつも、“わからないよ～”と、少し困った顔になります。
“Let's find things in the sea!”
「海にいる生き物を探そう！」
I tell the students, and then go through some different picture cards.
僕は生徒のみんなにそう言ってから、カードを何枚かみせました。
“Ahhh you mean umi!”
「あ～！Seaって海のことか！」
The students then realize what this lessons topic is going to be.
そのとき、生徒のみんなは今回のレッスンのテーマが何かわかったようです！
今回のテーマは…
The sea!
そう、海！
We have started to learn about things in the sea by playing games!
僕たちはゲームをしながら、海の生き物についての勉強を始めました！
After a few games using the new vocabulary, they're not confused anymore!
新しい単語を使ってゲームを少ししたら、みんなはあっという間に覚えられて、彼らから困った顔はすでに消えていました！
Eve made a wonderful poster of things found in the sea and around the beach.
そうそう！イブが、海やビーチにいる生き物たちのすてきなポスターを作ってくれたね^^

We have started to learn about things in the sea by playing games!

After a few games using the new vocabulary, they're not confused anymore!
新しい単語を使ってゲームを少ししたら、みんなはあっという間に覚えられて、彼らから困った顔はすでに消えていました！
Eve made a wonderful poster of things found in the sea and around the beach.
そうそう！イブが、海やビーチにいる生き物たちのすてきなポスターを作ってくれたね^^

I love horse riding!
Hi everyooooone!
みーんなー、こんにちは！
This month in Yellow class, we're practicing 'I can ...'.
今月のイエロークラスでは、英語で得意なことを言う練習をしています。
One of the flash cards is 'ride a pony'. I asked the students if they can ride a pony or a horse.
Most answers were 'I've ridden one once' or 'I can't ride a pony well'.
カードの中の一枚が「ポニーに乗ること」。
生徒たちに「ポニー乗れますか？」って聞いたら、「一回乗ったことある」とか「上手に乗れない」と言う回答がほとんどでした。
I asked the students to ask me if I could ride a pony...
生徒に「馬に乗れますかって私に聞いてみて！」と言いました。
And I showed them this photo!
っで、この写真を生徒たちに見せました！
This is me riding my Shetland pony, Waffles.
「ワッフルズ」と呼ばれたシェットランドポニーに乗ってる私。
'How old are you??' they asked me.
'Here I was 5 years old' I replied.
「何才？？」って聞かれて...
「この時5歳だった」と答えました。
I have been riding ponies and horses since I was a little girl.
My Mum always liked horse riding, so I did too.
私は小ちゃい子の時からずーっと馬やポニーに乗ってたよ。私の母が乗馬好きだったから、私もそうになった。
When I grew older, I often went riding in England's forests with my Mum. She would ride her horse, Jade.
もう少し大人になったとき、イギリスの綺麗な森で母と一緒に馬に乗りました。母の馬の名前がジェイドでした。

I love horse riding but it is hard to continue in Japan as horses are rare, and lessons are expensive. I miss horse riding!
乗馬は大好きだけど、日本には馬は少ないし、レッスン料も高いですよね。悲しい
